How to Close Your Community Account

Why Close Your Community Account

  • You no longer want a community account.
  • Your account was created with Single Sign-On, but you now manage multiple products as a Technical Contact or no longer use that product.

When to Edit Your Profile Instead

  • You’ve changed your email or contact information.

  • You want to update your display name, avatar, or preferences.

  • You need to adjust your notification or subscription settings.

What to Expect After Closing Your Account

  • Your posts and comments will remain visible, but they will be displayed under the username “Community Member.”

  • Your current username will be released and can be used by another account.

  • If you re-register in the future, you may be able to use your old username (if available). However, your previous posts, articles, access, and badges will not be restored or linked to your new account.

Steps to Close Your Account

  1. Sign in to the community account you want to close.

  2. Click your avatar in the top-right corner of the page.

  3. Select My Settings.

  4. Choose Close Account.

  5. Confirm by selecting Close Account again.

  6. Enter the username associated with the account.

  7. Select Close Account one final time.

  8. Your account will be closed, and you will automatically be logged out.
