Creating terms

When creating my terms for next year, should I not leave any gaps between terms or can I leave gaps between terms?

No gaps: term dates include holiday breaks and intersession days

T1-July 20-Sep 22

T2-Sep 23-Dec 31

T3-Jan 1-Mar 8

T4-Mar 9-May 24

Gaps: term dates do not include holiday breaks and intersession days

T1-July 20-Sep 22

T2-Oct 10-Dec 15

T3-Jan 4-Mar 8

T4-Mar 25-May 24

What are the pros and cons to each approach?  We have always done it with no gaps in the past and I am sure there is a reason, just not sure what the reason is.

Hi @BrookeJ1 You definitely do not want gaps in your Years & Terms (or in your Final Grade/Reporting Terms Setup, for that matter).

In my opinion, this is less a Pro/Con situation and more of a Best Practice situation. Gaps in Years & Terms can create calendar setup issues, CC record issues, State Reporting problems (will vary state-by-state), confusion among staff, etc.

No gaps in Years & Terms has no downside whatsoever.
