I am a Teacher On Call (TOC) in a school district that uses PowerSchool Atrieve Workboard to dispatch teaching on call assignments. Our Workboard is open from 4:00pm - 11:00pm and 4:00am - 8:00am every day of the year.
For several years, I've had good success accepting TOC assignments at 4:01pm by logging into my account on 11 browsers; specifically, 6 browsers on my phone and 5 browsers on my laptop between 3:59pm to 4:02pm. This strategy is primarily responsible for me nabbing enough assignments to work full-time as a TOC in my school district.
For the past 5 days, however, I watched the workboard go from 'off' to completely empty in a second. This is a new experience for me - and very different from what I've experienced since the workboard came into effect in my district.
I know I didn't miss the moment the workboard was published on the past five days because I was refreshing once per second on various browsers. I didn't get the error message that I'd refreshed the workboard too many times. I'm not currently booked for tomorrow, so the workboard wasn't empty because I'm unavailable. Two of my TOC friends told me they saw "lots" of assignments at 4:01pm today, and their teachable subjects and availability are the same as mine..
This is a new experience for me - seeing no assignments available when other TOCs see plenty - and I'm concerned that I'm missing TOC opportunities that I should have access to. Since this doesn't seem to be an issue with my availability for TOC assignments or my timing when refreshing the workboard, I'm concerned that there may be a technical issue or a filter setting on my account that’s preventing me from seeing postings.
1. What could be causing this?
2. Are their filters or preferences that could be set by my school district's HR department or individual schools and/or administrators that affect what appears for me on the workboard?
3. Is there a new system in place where TOCs who have worked fewer assignments recently are offered more assignments via the workboard and ADT phone call out system (as I've worked 9 full days since the start of school)?
4. Is there a new system in place whereby if a TOC is logged in on several devices simultaneously, the workboard appears empty to them?
5. I appreciate your help in investigating this further, as I don’t want to miss assignments simply because of a system glitch.
