Permission Click Form Link Regeneration by June 4, 2026

Dear Permission Click Customers,

As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping your data secure, we’re introducing an enhancement to how Permission Click form links are generated and structured. This update improves link security by adopting a stronger, more resilient ID pattern.

This article outlines what’s changing, why it matters, and the steps you need to take to ensure a smooth transition by June 4, 2026.

What's Changing?

Permission Click is updating the structure of all form links to improve security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

Impacted Link Types

There are two types of form links in Permission Click, which are both affected by this change:

  • Public Form Links
    • Accessible by anyone who has the link
    • Commonly shared on school or district websites
  • Personalized Form Links
    • Sent to specific individuals (e.g., parents/guardians)
    • Unique to each recipient and tied to a roster

New Link Structure

Any newly generated public form link and any newly sent personalized form link will use the new form link URL structure.

  • Old form link URL structures use shorter IDs and personalized links use fewer slashes; Ex:
    • …permission.click/PADrP/ca
    • …permission.click/YjEKG/ca/3DqK
    • …respond.permissionclick.com/r/caPpOAnL
  • New form link URL structures use longer IDs and personalized links use an additional slash; Ex:
    • …permission.click/d3d460f1/ca
    • …permission.click/0e97657f/ca/qJ3
    • …respond.permissionclick.com/rt/ca/8573a82a

Required Action

As part of the 26.5.0.0 release on May 21, 2026, PowerSchool will regenerate all public form links for you for all forms with the public form link feature enabled.

After the 26.5.0.0 release, each Permission Click customer will need to take the following action:

  1. Redistribute the updated public form links where appropriate (e.g., school/district website)
  2. Resend personalized form links to rostered individuals who have not yet submitted a response for the form

How to Redistribute Public Form Links

  1. Navigate to Form Manager
  2. Select 'Manage Responses'
  3. Locate the 'Share this form' section
  4. Select the Copy icon next to the public form link
  5. Replace the old link with the new link wherever it's been shared, such as:
    • School or district website
    • Email communications
    • Newsletters or portals

Form Manager > Share this formForm Manager > Share this form

How to Resend Personalized Form Links

  1. Navigate to Form Manager
  2. Select 'Manage Responses'
  3. Select the Remind icon
  4. Select 'Remind All Unfinished...'

Form Manager > Remind All Unfinished > Review your messageForm Manager > Remind All Unfinished > Review your message

Timeline

To give you time to take the required action, we'll support a two-week transition period through June 4, 2026, where both old and new form link URLs will function. On June 5, 2026, old form link URLs will cease to function and, when accessed, will result in a message informing the user that the link has been retired and they must get a new one from the school/district.

  • Thursday, May 21, 2026: Permission Click version 26.5.0.0 release date (between 6:00-10:00pm PT) / start of transition period

  • Thursday, June 4, 2024: End of transition period
