search for students enrolled between certain dates

We have a fluid enrollment with students entering school anytime of the year.  Please can you tell us how to search for students initiating enrollment between certain dates?  ex. Names and grades of students who enrolled (started school) between 01/02/2023 and 05/20/2023.

Search:

entrydate=>1/2/2023;entrydate<5/20/2023

Hi Jeff! Do you know what to add to the query to pull kids who entered or left between certain dates, but exclude kids whose entrydate equals exit date? I tried simply entrydate#exitdate but it doesn't seem to work. I don't want kids who never attended and so whose enrollments were basically "cancelled out" this year by making entry the same as exit.

DISREGARD - figured it out!

Not entirely sure this is what you are looking for, but maybe (I made up the dates):

entrydate=>1/29/2026;exitdate<2/25/2026;exitdate#1/29/2026

Me again Jeff - is there a way to search for kids who entered for the FIRST TIME this year to the district? For example, if I search for kids who started on 8/27 (the first day of school), I am going to get EVERYONE because even the kids who were here last year will have an enrollment record starting that day. Is there something I can add as a filter to say "these kids don't have an enrollment record last year" or, "these kids were actually enrolled for the first time over the summer"? I am often asked for a list of ALL new kids from the start of school until now.

There is no way to do that from the basic search on the Start Page. You'd need to get into SQL and somehow cross-reference with the ReEnrollments table. My team has a report that does it but reading SQL to me is like reading Aramaic.

A much easier way to do it:

-Right before you run EOY, you usually have to find pre-registered students who have become active and change them back to pre-registered. Make a Stored Selection of these kids.

-After roll over (EOY Process), You can change the EntryDate on those kids to something different than all of the kids that were not new to the district and were being promoted. For example, in New York, the school year in PowerSchool must run 7/1/20XX - 6/30/20XX, so all promoted kids have a 7/1 entrydate. Just change all your Pre-Reg kids to 7/3 or something and then you can search for new kids with

entrydate=>7/3/20XX
