I am new to PowerSchool and we didn't get a lot of training. It is the end of the year and my Q3 and Q4 grades are fine, but when I try to enter the final exam grade, it affects Q4 even if I put it in S2. Then it won't average the Q3, Q4, and the final exam grade properly and I cannot figure out why.
Here is our grading:
Q3 = 45% of grade
Q4 = 45% of grade
Final Exam = 10% of grade
But I can't get the grades to average correctly, and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong! Please help!
Thank you! 🙂
Final Exam in ours is date specific, so look at the dates used in your Final Grade Reporting Term Set Up, and see what dates the final exam is set to be. It has to match that in the gradebook.
@cmccoy1 I am willing to bet that you have not done anything wrong, but that whoever set up the Reporting Terms on the Admin side has overlap in the terms.
The due date of an assignment in PT Pro dictates the Reporting Term it falls into. If a reporting term's dates overlap with another reporting term, an assignment with a due date in that overlap will count in both reporting terms. This is one of the (many) reasons I recommend teachers never create an assignment for an exam and simply put the exam grade directly into the Grade column in the reporting term.
You can see the dates that the reporting terms span in PT Pro; I have attached a screenshot here. If you could provide the same folks would have an easier time helping. Know that PowerSchool requires a minimum of two days per reporting term.
