Services-The (1) Services area allows you to integrate your social media services with your K-12 Social account.
This is part 7 of a Series of the SchoolMessenger K-12 Walk Through Guide
Add Services
To the right of the page, there are a variety of 2) Social Media Services that you can add; these have been grouped for convenience. Choose from the most popular social media sites as well as additional services and apps such as
Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, or choose by area, i.e., Popular, Social, Blogs, Photo & Video, Bookmarking, Monitoring, Apps.
These can be added and integrated by clicking the (3) Add button on the service with which you
wish to integrate. You will be prompted for your corresponding login details and asked for permission to
authenticate with these social networks.
EXAMPLE: Adding a Facebook Fan Page
Clicking the “Add” button next to any service will call a window asking you to choose from the available types of service
connections. Click (4) Setup next to the one that applies (Facebook Fan Page in this example).
Usually, you will be asked to log in to your account for the selected service (if you are already logged in through the same browser, you will be asked if you want to continue with the current credentials by clicking (5) Continue as ____).
Once logged in, you will be asked to pick (6) who is able to see posts sent to the service by K-12 Social. If you want your posts
to be visible to your followers and the public, you must select “Public” from the dropdown. Click OK to continue.
EXAMPLE: Adding a Facebook Fan Page Cont.
You will now be asked if you would like to make changes to (7) Choose what you allow the K-12 Social app to access and publish to your service. You can make adjustments by clicking to check or uncheck items in the list, but we recommend leaving all items checked to ensure your account works as expected. Click (8) Back when finished. Click “OK” to move on to the final step.
Use the final settings window to give your service a description (used to help you identify the particular
service), select a specific page or account (if your social media login credentials give you admin access to multiple accounts), configure some options for how your posts will appear, use Geotargeting (if you’re looking to have posts to this service only be visible to a geographically specific audience), and set how you will be alerted to new activity on the service using the available options.
Click (9) Save Settings to complete the process. You will receive a (10) Confirmation message that your
service has been configured and saved to your K-12 Social account.
My Services
When My Services is selected, the page presents a list of all your social media services which you have linked to your account, along with the options to Edit the service details or Delete that service from your account.
Filtering and Search options are available to help you locate exactly what you’re looking for.
Services Lists
The Services Lists page allows you to group your added social media services into lists. Once a list of services has been created, you will be able to save the time, and possible mistakes, of one-at-a-time selecting every service to which a single message needs to post (see the Composing Messages portion of this guide, on page 17, for more information).
Clicking (1) Add a New List will allow you to give this grouping a (2) “List Name”, assign it a “List Color”, as well as select additional “Consumers” and “Contributors” (from the available K-12 Social accounts and users).
Once a Services List has been created, you will need to (3) highlight the list in the center of the Services List page and use the (4) Add Service button to select from a list of all services which have been configured for your K-12 Social account – add as many as are needed for the intended purpose of the list. The right side of the page will show which list is selected and the options to (5) Edit or Delete the list and (6) all services which are in the list. An individual service can be easily removed from a list using the (7) “X” to delete them.
