How To: Double SMS Opt-In in SchoolMessenger Communicate

If your institution has enabled double SMS opt-in, recipients will need to confirm their opt-in decision by replying Y to an invitation message or by texting to your district's specific short code. This resource includes information about both the opt-in and opt-out workflows.

 

Opt-In Process

 

  1.  Notify your users that text messaging will be enabled. At this point, users can proactively opt-in by texting Y to your district's short code.
  2. Confirm with PowerSchool Support that SMS phone data will be imported and mapped in your account.
  3. Complete the import and mapping process. At this point, any users who have not already opted in will automatically receive an opt-in invite message to complete the process.

 

Opt-Out Process

 

Users can opt-out of text messaging through the following methods:

 

  1. Text STOP to your district's short code at any time.
  2. Submit an opt-out request at http://schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg.
  3. Request that your institution's SchoolMessenger Communicate admin add the correct phone number to their account's block list.
