Q: Help, I can't log into my account! How do I change my password?
A: Don't panic! In most cases, you will need to contact someone at your school for help logging into PowerSchool Learning.
How you change your password will depend on what kind of account you have and, if your whole school uses PowerSchool Learning, and the current settings for your PowerSchool Learning domain.
PowerSchool Learning Solo Accounts
Do you log in to PowerSchool Learning at mylearning.powerschool.com? Then you (or your Teacher) are using a Solo Teacher Teacher Account.
For individual accounts, simply click Forgot Your Password? on the login page. This will send a password reset to the email address associated with your account from the address email@example.com. Keep an eye out for that email containing additional instructions! We hear sometimes it ends up in your Spam folder, so you may also want to check there if you do not see it after a few minutes.
Once you select the link in that email, PowerSchool Learning will log you in and prompt you to choose a brand new password. See below for more information on resetting your password if your Independent account is associated with Google Apps Single Sign On.
Google Apps for Education and Other Single Sign-On Accounts
Regardless of whether you have a domain account or an individual account, if you use single sign-on (SSO) services like Google Apps or Office 365 to log into your account, PowerSchool Learning doesn't actually store a password for your account. Instead, if you've forgotten your password, you'll need to go back and reset your password in your Google Apps or Office 365 account.
For example, to log into PowerSchool Learning using Google Apps, select the SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE button on the left side of your login screen. If you cannot remember your Google Apps password or it is not working properly, select the Need help? button to recover your username or password, or get in touch with your school's Google Apps administrator.
School & District Edition Accounts
If your school created your account for you and you log in at a special URL that uses your school's name or an abbreviation (such as: yourschool.learning.powerschool.com), then you have a domain account. For security reasons, PowerSchool staff aren't able to reset passwords for domain accounts.
If you're having trouble logging into a domain account, it's best to try the following before sending a help request to PowerSchool Learning:
- Are you using the correct URL? Usually, the name of your School or a brief message from your Organization will appear on your login page!
- Are you logging in through the correct side of your login page? If your school uses Google Apps, you may need to select the big SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE button. See below for more information.

- If your school allows you to reset your password, this will send a password reset to the email address associated with your PowerSchool Learning account from the address firstname.lastname@example.org. Keep an eye out for that email containing additional instructions! Hint: We hear sometimes it ends up in your Spam folder, so you may also want to check there if you do not see it after a few minutes.
- If your school does not use Standard Authentication, or does not allow you to reset your password for yourself school administrators may leave school-specific login and password reset instructions using this link under the Forgot Your Password? link to help you out, sort of like this:
