Applying for State-Funded and Tuition-Based Pre-K

have a question regarding the Pre-K registration process.

If we apply for the state-funded Pre-K program and our child does not qualify, can we still enroll in the tuition-based Pre-K program? Additionally, is it recommended to/ or can we submit registration for both programs at the same time to ensure we do not lose a tuition-based seat while eligibility is being reviewed?

We want to make sure we are following the correct process and not affecting our eligibility for either option.

Hello!

Yes—you can still enroll in a tuition‑based Pre‑K program if your child doesn’t qualify for the state‑funded option. In fact, many districts recommend submitting applications for both at the same time so you don’t risk losing a tuition‑based seat while eligibility for the state program is being reviewed. The tuition‑based track is specifically designed for families who don’t meet state criteria, so applying to both won’t affect eligibility for either .
