Hi everyone,
A teacher is requesting to change an ASSIGNMENT grade from last year (Q4). First of all, this falls outside current year terms, so I can't just re-save grades. Am I correct in understanding that there is no way to actually go into a PT Pro gradebook from the prior year, change the assignment grade, and realc the final grade? It sounds like she is going to have to manually figure out this recalculation for the final grade, then I will need to go in and change the historical final grade and delete the existing honor roll and re-run it for the one student. Not sure how I would go about re-calcing the GPA for last year. I would appreciate any guidance on how to go about handling this grade change request.
@Tzappulla3 Teachers can absolutely go back to previous years in their gradebook. They can change grades and the Y1 (or whatever the final grade is) will calculate normally. You can then update the Q4/Y1 grade for the student in Historical.
Looks like you can switch term and re-run honor roll for that kid.
I would use a GPA DAT in a Quick Export with the year="2024" parameter attached to your method.
Thanks again Jeff! You are teaching me SO much. Ah, it looks like admins only have read-only access to PT Pro, so I wasn't sure what teachers could see an do. I think she doesn't know how to do this so I will sit with her. Then, I will update the historical grade and re-run honor roll. For the GPA - does putting the DAT in a Quick Export effectively "re-run" the GPA?
Also - will I need to go in and unlock that section in the prior year, or can she re-enter the assignment grade and will it recalc without unlocking? I flipped into the prior year but it looks like I don't have the ability to unlock those sections.
