Close at Max Issues

Hi, I am having issues with my Load.  Too many students are being added despite having the Max set.  I doubled check each course to make sure that "Close section at max" is selected in Preferences and made sure to do a Load Validation and then redid the Load with "Close sections at Max" and I keep getting Load with some sections over the max.  Any suggestions?  I've never had this issue in the past.

Hi @efunston Check that the sections themselves are set to close at max.

Hi @JeffG9 The sections over also have the "Close section at max" checked.  I've been using Power Scheduler for about 4 years and never run into this issue before.  I am open to any other ideas as it seems so strange with the Course, Section, and Load checked to close at max and I'm still getting sections over.  Many thanks.

Just a though, but are you importing the Loads? bc if you don't import the load the numbers you see in class totals are how many kids the section could get without restrictions...You can run a load, but if you don't import those numbers don't change. Usually on the import it will honor the 'close section at max'.

Good call. Our users always forget to Import.

I imported and I've still got this problem.  One section has 37 students and I set the max at 23.  Please help!

When you import the build it shows you how many students can get the course...but then you have to run the load to actually get kids in there. When you run the load make sure you select close sections at max.

After the load you have to import the load as well.

Is there any more information on this?  I have been using PS for a number of years and am getting this same issue.  I have 14 sections of a course and a max number set, but the section is not closing on the load.  When I import, some sections have 45 plus students and some have low 20s.

Any help would be useful.

If you have a build, I would use Functions > Update Selections to isolate the current build sections in the ScheduleSections table and then search for  Maxcut#True

This will pull any section in the build that doesn't have the Close Section at Max checked.

Thank you, that was a helpful tip.

After the roll over the close section at max box is still checked. Which means the admin are always using the password to override the section.

I looked in Scheduling preferences 24-25 and the box is not checked.

Is there a way to mass uncheck this box?

Thank you
