Class Descriptions

Our specials teachers teach every class across multiple grade levels, and they are struggling to quickly identify the students’ homeroom teachers from their course sections in PowerSchool SIS / PowerTeacher Pro.

Is there a recommended way to display additional identifying information for teachers, such as:

  • Grade level
  • Homeroom teacher

Ideally, we would like special teachers to be able to easily identify which homeroom a class belongs to without having to look up individual students.

I originally thought I could add myself as a co-teacher to each course section and modify the class description, but I realized those changes only display for me and not for the actual teacher assigned to the course.

Has anyone found a good solution for this?

Use the section # to indicate the homeroom teacher name. See screenshot I attached which is from a training server (not real data). In PowerTeacher there is a preference teachers can enable to show the section # on the PowerTeacher home page (PowerTeacher home page > Click User Initials > Manage Profile > Set Display Section Number on the PowerTeacher Home Page to Yes > Submit. Section number setting will be effective the next time you sign into PowerTeacher.

Thank you. We use Clever to roster other programs. Have you found any issues with that?

Another question came up, does ISBE accept the section names?
