Accessing PowerSchool Data using Power BI

I manage a team of IT Developers. We are being asked by a facility that we support to build out dashboards using Power BI using data that the enter in PowerSchool for the youth enrolled in their schools.

Could someone provide us documentation or assistance in guiding us on where to start and how we can support our facilities to connect to the data they enter in Power School and create visualizations/chart in our Power BI platform?

Hello @FFornataro,
To connect Power BI with PowerSchool, you'll typically need access to PowerSchool’s ODBC or API endpoints. Start by reviewing Power BI’s data connection guide and explore PowerSchool’s integration options via Report Simple’s Power BI connector. For community-driven insights, the PowerSchool Community Forum is a helpful resource. Setting up a secure data gateway and using scheduled refreshes will ensure your dashboards stay up to date.

Thanks Delia, is there any documentation or someone I need to talk to to get the ODBC connection and permission to connect to the ODBC connection for PowerSchool?

@FFornataro this is typicall beyond the PowerSchool scale but you can find the documetns of ODBC for PowerBI from below link:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/odbc

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/paginated-reports/paginated-reports-odbc-support

I would recommend to try the APEX/Enterprise report as a start as it's much easier and all build-in with PowerSchool.
