I am applying for an academic job managed by PeopleAdmin. After I submitted my application, I realized that for one of my references, I swapped the phone and email records, and the system didn't issue any warnings. Now, this reference didn't receive his reference request email, and I cannot edit the application to fix this error. Any solution?
You generally cannot edit references yourself after submitting a PeopleAdmin application. Once an application is submitted, PeopleAdmin locks reference information to preserve application integrity.
Contact the hiring institution’s HR or search committee administrator
Ask them to return your application to “In Progress” or unlock references so you can correct the contact information.
Many institutions can do this quickly on their end.
This is the most common and successful solution.
Ask HR to resend the reference request
If they don’t want to reopen the application, HR can:
Correct the reference contact details internally, or
Manually resend the reference request email to the correct address.
Contact PeopleAdmin support (secondary option)
PeopleAdmin support cannot change your application content, but they can:
Confirm the reference email was not delivered
Advise the institution on how to unlock or reset references
Ultimately, only the institution can authorize changes.
Email the reference directly
Let your reference know there was a system error.
Ask them to watch for a new request once HR corrects it, or
In some cases, HR may allow references to submit outside the system.
