QuickDoc: SchoolMessenger SMS Opt-In Process (with Flyers)

Summary

Schools can utilize the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages straight to mobile phones with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.

To start using SMS, districts will need to complete an SMS Opt-In Campaign to allow their contacts to agree that they would like to receive SMS messages from SchoolMessenger. Opting in or remaining opted in is done on a voluntary basis from the recipient’s mobile device.

School districts will need to contact Support to start this process. Support will review the Opt In options and schedule the date/time for the Opt In. At that time, SMS Opt In messages will be sent out to all designated SMS numbers from the district’s data imports. Recipients must reply back “Y” or “Yes” to this message in order to Opt In.

Support will provide districts with their SMS Short Code. This code will be used to send SMS messages, including the initial Opt In Message. Once this has been provided, please feel free to use the attached flyers under “Attachments” to inform your recipients of the upcoming Opt In Campaign.

Note: The short code is within the parenthesis of the flyer name so you may locate the correct flyer to use. Using the incorrect short code for opt-in will result in received errors and potential confusion.

@KamranA @IanGr Thanks for the updated SMS Opt-In flyers! The embedded links are not live. Can you please confirm whether this is the intended link to the Student Privacy Pledge?

I'd like to "enliven" the links in the flyer that we share on our website.
