PowerSchool is no longer mobile friendly on my iOS device

When I look at the PowerSchool website on Chrome on my iphone, it looks like the same version I would see on my computer. It used to show up in a mobile friendly version, which I much preferred. Why did it change? How can I change it back?

Thank you for posting in the PowerSchool Community!

Would you please provide rather you are accessing a PowerSchool teacher site or PowerSchool parent portal?

There have been reports from Chrome of users switching to desktop mode without the ability to switch back to the mobile version.  Chrome Support has shared that clearing the cache within Chrome should reset the view within Chrome.  I have provided a link below that should walk through how to clear the cache in Chrome using an IOS device.

You should be able to change from the desktop mode to the mobile-friendly mode by choosing the menu and selecting 'Request Mobile Site'

Thank you for your response. I tried your advice. I cleared the browsing history, which included the cache on Chroem on my iphone. Then I went to the powerschool website for my school. I request mobile site. Nothing happened. It looks the same.

You also asked if I was trying to get on Power Teacher or the parent portal. I'm trying to get on Power Teacher. My school's version is called PowerSchool SIS. I feel like the SIS part is new this year. I don't remember seeing that last year. Maybe that's the problem?

Thank you for trying the above-mentioned steps and sharing your experience with us.

I would like to request further information that might help me help you better, would you please share with us the iOS version that your iPhone is currently running?

We want to try to pinpoint the cause of the issue, so could you please try using different browsers such as Safari, Mozilla Firefox, etc on your iPhone to find out if it's browser-specific?  Also, if you have another device available I would you please try navigating the website on chrome on that device and share the results with us?

Thanks for the advice. I have an iPhone 8 verson 12.4.1. I tried Safari and Firefox, but it also came up with the desktop version, and there's no option for switching to another view in either of those browers. I don't have other devices to try. I will ask around and see if anyone else has experienced the same thing here at school.

We do not have an IT person who can look at it in person, at least not for a long time. They come around once per month maybe. And chances are, he wouldn't know what to do about it.

It seems it is likely a problem with the upgrades PS has done recently. For example, there's an error message that all the teachers at my school are receiving in their gradebook about an "invalid grade scale" that is due to a currently unfixable issue from the upgrade, according to PS support.

Hi @jchristensen, Thank you for sharing all the requested information.

Definitely ask around in your school district to find out if others are facing the same issue. Also, I would suggest that you try to access the portal on another device so we know for certain that it's not a device-specific issue.

And, if the portal loads in desktop view on that device I would suggest that you reach out to your school district's Designated Support Contact who should be able to work with PowerSchool SIS support team to resolve this issue.

Hope this helps

The "SIS" part is just the name.  PowerSchool (the whole product) has always been a SIS (Student Information System).  It was just added as part of the v19 upgrade earlier this year.

Do you have an IT support team at your school?  This may be something they can help with in person, as it sounds like a browser issue.  There's also another option of resetting Chrome to defaults, but that comes with some risks as it COULD clear out any saved passwords or privacy settings you might have set or stored.

This is more desktop-centric, but may apply to the iOS version (I have an Android phone, so I can't walk through the same steps): https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en

As Bishal suggested above, also try Safari on your phone to see if you get the mobile version.  That'll narrow down whether it's a Chrome thing.
