Hello, all! Are there benefits to being the Owner of a Class versus a Teacher added to a Class by an Owner? Other than the root name, are there differences in Owner versus Teacher ability to analyze data, create themes, or other important functions? Are there reasons that you might not want to make a Teacher an Owner? Thanks for any insight.
Thank you Kevin. I am referring to PowerSchool Learning. I believe that the owner of a class (the name that appears in the root) has some extra capabilities over a teacher in the class, such as access to the resource library, the ability to track user activity, and perhaps others?
Interesting question! I didn't know they were different. So when classes from a teacher who is leaving need to be re-assigned to an incoming/new teacher, would the change be made on class owner or teacher? And where in the settings is this? I only see class owner setting change on Domain Control.
From a user perspective, there isn't much of a difference between a Class Owner and a Teacher within the Class. They will still have the same permissions and capabilities to update themes and view analytics within the Class. The one big difference is that only the Class Owner can delete the Class and the Class Owner cannot be removed from the Class by any other Teacher.
As far as changing the Class Owner, this is something that can only be done through import or from the Domain Control. Below is an article we have that goes over the ways it can be done so you have something for your reference.
Hopefully that sheds a little more light on things!
