Parent accounts on PS Learning

Hi all -

So we are currently using PS Learning with PS SIS without the parent account sync with the SIS as we are piloting it for now. We will be moving to the Unified Classroom in August this year when we will import all currently active parent accounts from the PowerSchool SIS. But for now, and to let the pilot user teachers give the parents of their classes access to the material, here is what we are considering.

Teachers provide invitation codes to selected parents. Parent creates new account to get into the PS Learning platform.  This basically means parents now have 2 accounts: One for PS SIS and one for PS Learning.

Some questions on this scenario:

1. Can a parent create a new PS Learning account with the same email address that they are using for their current PS SIS?

2. If not, then when we moved to Unified in August and sync all parent accounts into the system, which email address will be the valid one for existing parents to log into the system with?

I guess we are trying to keep the process as simple for the parents as possible. So any help or assistance with this would be truly appreciated.

Thanks.

Shashi

Re: Parent accounts on PS Learning

Hi @skrishna

Thank you for your questions about PS Learning / SIS in preparation for your transition to Unified Classroom this Summer.  We have reviewed your request with our Unified Classroom and Learning teams and feel that you would benefit from discussing this with your Implementation Specialist now, in prepartion for the move.

There are options for a manual merge process, but having parents create accounts with different usernames is probably the easiest solution. You could then match the import ID between the two accounts. When you implement Unified Classroom in August, both accounts would be valid and a merge process would need to be performed. This will need to be sorted out during implementation, so working with your Implementation Specialist in advance lets you set this up so that the process runs as easily as possible.

Best of luck to you with your trials and move to Unified Classroom.

Re: Parent accounts on PS Learning

Thanks @MichelleB. We continue to work with the team assigned for our school. But since this forum had users already on the platform I was hoping someone would provide a clear answer quickly. Smiley Happy We have a meeting scheduled with a PS Learning manager on Monday so shall include this question too.

Cheers,
