Just venting, properly linked rosters aren't updated after schedule changes

This has been going on for a year and PS still has not fixed it. When a change is made on the sis side....the correct of students enrolled will appear but not actually update the student list

 

example attached, shows linked and with count of 20 which matches the sis, but as you see only 17 kids actually in it. Like I said, this has been going on since the beginning of last year.

 

 

Unlinking and relinking is the fix, but I can't and its stupid to ask teachers to unlink and relink all their sections each day for the rosters to actually be correct.

When you link the class roster to your class pages, make sure you select the option that will continue to update the class list. The other option is just a one time import and never gets updated again!

we know to do that, we always use the link option and not the one time. I included a pic showing this.

Yes,we also have faced similar situation where we need to unlink and link again to update the changes even after selecting the option to update the roster automatically. There were cases like a student is actually present in the section roster but not listed in the linked(rostered in master class) list and to solve this issue we added the student manually.

Getting hammered with this this AM with more teachers noticing. I've heard nothing back from level 2 support.

 

 

I think the issue with adding them manually keeps those students assignment/assessment grades from syncing to PT Pro.

Has any one heard any updates on this? We are still experiencing this issue and need to get it corrected so our students are able to access their courses.

"Thanks for getting back to me. Yes it is a weird one. Part of the difficulties is that it actually seems to happen quite rarely, frequency wise, it's just with the amount of changes at the start of a School Year, the total amount of occurrences piles up.It is also really hard to replicate in our test environments. If it would have been easier to replicate, it would have been easier to resolve."

 

 

There is nothing rare about it. It happens all year long when there is a schedule change. Don't understand how a schedule change can't be replicated on their end. Whatever....

When you unlink and then link the class back are grades lost? Since this seems to be the only fix I am hesitant to try it if the teachers have grades in the grade book already.

no, its a one way street down to PT Pro, everything that is populated in PT Pro will remain.
