SAM Test ID in Performance Matters

Since a test number is assigned to assessments (Answer Key Only and Online) created in Performance Matters, what is the major purpose of the SAM Test ID number?  At one time this number was utilized by teachers when pulling in tests for their SLO's but I am not certain that is the case anymore.

Can someone give me a definitive answer that distinguishes the SAM test ID from the Assessment number and explain why the SAM number is important?

I couldn't find many resources on the SAM ID but what I did find was somewhat conflicting.  One article referenced replacing the "legacy" SAM Test ID with another ID for Scan View which may not be relevant. This article 

The second article found Here has a comment at the bottom that references how to find a test with the "SAM id".

It seems that the SAM Test Id is a legacy Test ID that may or may not still be useful to you and your situation.  For instance, if someone has a SAM Test Id then you may still be able to use it to find a test.

I could be wrong but that's just my assumption.  Someone with more experience with the platform may be able to correct me and I'll edit this reply.

I also did a bit of research about the SAM Test ID before posting my question.  Like you, I found very little information to help me.  While I greatly appreciate your response which has given me some more information, I look forward to hearing from a PowerSchool support person who may give both of us an in-depth explanation.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community for assistance! We are glad to assist you.

The  Sam_id is the database id for an assessment while the assessment_id is the user interface (UI) id of the assessment. The Sam_id in the database is used for storing instead of the assessment_id.
