Question about PowerSchool and Clever

Hello,

I integrated Clever into our district about 2 months ago. It is working so far but we are having some issues. Right now we have some students that do not have email addresses in powerschool and some of our staff either the email is different in powerschool than it is on Active Directory or they have a completely different account in there like a Gmail account.

When we create AD accounts we do not add any more attributes like student id or anything like that so we cannot match using other fields.

Have you guys experienced this and what was the best solution you have come up with?

Thanks!!

Re: Question about PowerSchool and Clever

We use a company called CPSI to sync the data between PowerSchool and Active Directory. We utilize several attributes in AD to house some of our PS specific data, and LDAP to keep the passwords sync'd. Using PowerShell, we can pull the data anytime from AD and compare with PS, but there is usually no need. The sync process works very well.

The best solution is to resolve that procedural gap and lack of consistency and data integrity, honestly.

Clever will only be the first symptom of this problem.  As you add more third-party resources that rely on your SIS or AD for student/staff integration, this situation will keep repeating and growing until you address the root cause.  You'll spend more time and effort on trying to manipulate dirty data to fit instead of cleaning it up at the source.
