After selecting the Print button on a finalized IEP in PowerSchool Special Systems, I then press Generate PDF. The resulting document's print is too tiny to read. When I try to adjust it using my browser or Adobe print settings, then text then gets cut off from the page. I've even attempted to print in a Landscape format, and again, text gets cut off. I've also tried clearing browser history/cache, restarting my computer, restarting PowerSchool. This issue does not occur with every student or every document I attempt to print. And, since this is a finalized IEP, I am unable to go back into the document and adjust any text formatting within the report. How can I rectify this issue?
Did you ever get resolution on this? I am having this exact same problem right now on Secondary IEPs. Any suggestions?
I'm also having this issue. Did either of you find a resolution?
Yes -- I put in a Powerschool help ticket and this was the response:
Based on my review, this behavior typically occurs when the document formatting includes manual styling that does not align with the standard document layout. For example, in the Student Profile section, I noticed that in certain fields, em-dashes (---) or similar manual characters have been used to create visual line breaks or spacing within the same cell.
While this may appear normal on screen, when the document is printed in PDF format the system attempts to keep that content on a single line because those characters are treated as continuous text rather than actual line breaks. As a result, the system reduces the font size to fit the content, which can cause the text to appear very small or even get cut off on the right side.
If you try printing the document without the Student Profile section in the document, you should notice that it prints as expected. This issue generally appears only when such manual formatting (like repeated dashes, font styling changes, or spacing adjustments) is used.
Going forward, I recommend avoiding manual formatting techniques such as using multiple dashes, changing font sizes/styles for spacing, or similar formatting adjustments. If you need to prepare text beforehand, you may draft it in a plain text editor like Notepad first and then copy it into the document, this helps remove hidden formatting that can affect printing.
Thank you!
