Can only one category be weighted in the gradebook?

I have used total points for the last 8 years or so, but I want students' independent reading grades to be worth 25% of their quarter grade without waiting until the last minute to see what my total point value is for the marking period to calculate 25% of that.

1. Can I put a weight on just ONE category? What will happen to the rest of the categories if so? Do they stay as total points and make up the other 75% of the grade?
2. If I weight the reading category as 25% and then split the remaining 75% as equal percentages across the rest of my categories, would that 75% basically be like total points since they are all the same weight?
   1. If so, what happens if a category does not have an assignment? For example, I usually have at least one essay or project per quarter, but the Accelerate curriculum hasn't had one yet.....

You cannot have only one category be weighted in the PowerTeacher gradebook.  All the categories should be weighted.  To get further assistance with all your questions, we recommend working with the Designated Support Contacts within your school district who should be able to connect with the PowerSchool Support team if required.
