In calculating my F1 grades, I have Q1 at 40% and Q2 at 40% and E1 at 20%. If my E1 assignment is set for a future date, does that mean my F1 grade will not be correct until we reach the E1 date? In other words, will the E1 not be calculated at 20% until we reach that future date? Or is it calculated immediately even if the date is in the future?
@Gator88 If you are asking about Traditional Grade Calculations in PT Pro, and you have set up Term Weighting for the F1 Term as such:
Q1: 40%
Q2: 40%
E1: 20%
The grades for those Terms will calculate the F1 as soon as they are entered, regardless of the due dates of the assignments. The due date for an assignment only affects things such as what day it will publish (if you are using those settings) and what what reporting term it falls into. If you E1 is an exam, I personally like to enter the grade directly into the Grade column and not create an exam assignment at all.
Thank you! I figured out my error. I thought it wasn't calculating because I had given E1 a future date, but it was because I had given the E1 assignment a different category than the E1 category when I set up the Traditional Grade Calculations. I hope that makes sense. This is a lesson to hide the extra categories that you don't need/use.
@Gator88That's another reason I don't like to create an assignment for the exam grades. I see this very often in many of the districts I support.
