Logging in with email instead of Username

I can log in on my computer with Username/Password, however if I go to a school district website and apply for a job it then asks me for my email and password.  I'm putting in the email on record and the same password as when I logged in on website.  It is not working.  Stating email or password is incorrect.  What do I do?  I want to start applying for positions.  TYA
