THE WORST EXCUSE TO ENROLL STUDENTS POOR WEB DEVELOPMENT

I taught school for 40+ years, I am no stranger to the workings of school systems, school boards, rules, regulations, ya-da, ya-da, ya-da.  NEVER in all my years have I EVER run across such a poorly constructed registration form.  The registration process can be a simple, streamlined NOT a maze of questions and endless redundancy.  If a family has more than one child living in the same home attending different schools within the same school district, the process should be an easy one, simply add ALL the student's names, DOB, residence address, and phone numbers, grade, and school the parent wishes their child to attend.  Emergency contact (I assume) would be the same for all students within a family, Next, all medical immunization forms should be placed on another page, again student name then list of verifiable immunizations,  Finally, two drop-down fields including the fee for the privilege of participation in sports and/or activities  student name first. The last registration page is a rundown of the cost for "student fees" and "activity fees" DONE.  I can't start the process of registration for the second of four children until I get the required information for the first student.  I am the family tutor trying to do them, my students, a favor as they will not in be returning to the United States until the end of August.  I fear I will not have all 4 students fully vetted before the school year begins.  I have built several web sites for various organizations, the registration process for the Franklin, Wisconsin Public School System is the WORST EXAMPLE of what should be an easy process.  Asking for the birth city and state for each student is the SHADIEST way of determining US Citizenship vs a foreigner.  The question is insulting, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LEARNING PROCESS.  Determining which School District a student currently resides for the purpose of enrollment is important NOT WHERE A STUDENT WAS BORN.

So, how can I start the process of enrolling 4 students with the information I have, saving each student as an individual file and adding the required information as soon as it is obtained?

Hi @merkie57,

Thank you for reaching out for assistance through the Community!  I recommend contacting the district to discuss your concerns since the district makes the decision as to what questions are required on the form.  I recommend reaching out to the school or the district office to see if there is an alternate way of completing registration for the students.  I hope this information helps!

As an English teacher for 40+ years, I can spot the "party line speech" from a page away.  Not only is your program "buggie," but I also have another issue just posted this morning.  How about taking off the "rah-rah" hat and put on the problem-solving hat and help me get four students enrolled?   I am using W10 OS but will try using an android 4.2 to get past the issue of putting in the user name and password to access the program. Then after clicking to update/enroll a student (don't remember the correct verbiage), and putting in the DOB for the student, I am asked a second time to put in my user ID and password WHICH IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY YOUR PROGRAM.  Don't you use focus groups before going live, or do you just roll out a new product and hope for the best?  Mary Kasal

If you are expecting assistance, this is not the way to achieve it. Good luck.
