Requirements for non-parent guardian to enroll new student?

I’m a grandmother needing to enroll new students (my grandchildren). The children’s parents live out-of-state and are currently unable to care for the kids, so, with their consent, I’m caring for my grandchildren, but don’t have any document formalizing me as legal guardian. What would the school/district require to allow me, grandmother, to enroll the kids in school? Would a notarized letter/consent from parents suffice, or would a court document be required?

Hello @Ramona1 , thank you for participating in PowerSchool Community!

It is up to the school district as to what kinds of documents would qualify as proof of legal guardianship. As such, I would suggest contacting your school district for further guidance on what they want you to provide.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!
