All of my student are showing up as pre-registered, not active for their classes. I can't modify schedules until the actual start date of school because of this. How do I get them to be "active" in powerschool admin?
Hi @ozellmer,
Thank you for your question in PowerSchool Community!
We recommend changing enroll_status to 0 to make the inactive students be active.
Hi Reshma,
I tried that, but still when I click on Teacher's Schedules, and then try to click on their classes, it will only show the students when I click on "pre-registered". I think they are active now, but won't show up unless I select pre-registered. Do you know what could be causing that?
Hi @ozellmer,
We would like to have a closer look at your set up to assist you further. We recommend reaching out to the Designated Support Contact within your district who should be able to guide you further and connect with the PowerSchool SIS Support team to troubleshoot the issue for you.
@ozellmer Have you tried to Reset Class Counts? If not, go to District (Under Setup) > Special Operations (Under Data Management) > Reset Class Counts (leave the param 1 & 2 and code blank) > Submit
Let me know if this works for you. Have a nice day!!!

That seems like a great plan and what I need to do. I have no idea where to go in PowerSchool SIS to make this change. Can you please provide the specific steps to make that change?
Hi @TeriFriend,
Thank you for your post in PowerSchool Community!
We recommend connecting with the Powerschool SIS Support team to get further assistance on changing enroll_status to 0 to make the inactive students be active. They should be able to guide you with the steps in changing the students to active and answer your follow up questions.
You can change a students enroll status using the function "Student Field Value". Select the student(s) > Go to functions > Student Field Value > Field to Change: enroll_status > New Field Value: 0 > Submit ... it will show you the previous value and the new value... Click Submit again to make the change.
If this answers your question, please mark this post as Solution Accepted.
Let me know if you have additional questions. Have a great day!!!

It's been a known issue that still hasn't been addressed by PowerSchool. It causes major headaches when you're trying to schedule and need to know exactly how many seats you have available. The directions you'll find regarding preregistered students seem to apply to new students, not active students registering for sections that have a future start date... like we're in Trimester 1 now, and using Mass Enroll to register those students into Trimester 2 courses that start on Monday produced rosters with all preregistered students. Even more problematic, while the student schedules are showing their registrations in those courses, the teachers' schedules and a DDE export shows no students enrolled.

Hi Heather:
Thanks for the recommendation. I did, and regularly reset class counts when a new trimester is starting due to the number of changes in student schedules that occur. I have gone one step farther and done a full reset, which still did not address the "preregistered" issue at the section level. Again, these are active current students going into sections for the upcoming trimester.
I also have found if I manually schedule a student rather than Quick Enroll or Mass Enroll, it does not create the same issue. As it's been a known glitch for some time, it seems PowerSchool still hasn't fully addressed it.
Hi @KathleenS32,
Thank you for your post in PowerSchool Community!
Students are showed as Pre-registered in classes when they are enrolled in a class on a date where the class is not active. If you are having an AB schedule, you should be able to adjust the enrollments for the B-day classes to start on a date where the B-day classes are running.
Thanks for the info. Is there a way to mass change everyones enroll date once it's been changed? Or do we need to change the start date back to the original?
Hi @ssievert!
Thank you for the query!
If it's the section enrollments, you should be able to update the CC records DateEnrolled or DateLeft for the changes to reflect.
I have similar problems every year, especially when students are enrolled in sections using the dependent sections mechanism.
My work around is to go to the DDA (Direct Databases Access), search inside the CC table for records whose date of enrollment is greater that the first day of school date.
Then I use the "Modify Records" option to replace their current enrollment date to the date of the first day of school (or a day before).
When you are ready, reset the class counts ... System > Special Operations > Reset Class Counts
I hope this helps.
Thanks Gordon. Unfortunately I don't have that level access in PowerSchool to do make such an update (I get the response "Insufficient access privileges to view the requested screen.") Our Database Manager does not allow it.
