gpa_potentialcredits are 0 for each marking period in current year — how to fix?
Root Issue: gpa_potentialcredit() outputs 0s for marking periods for the current year. So when PowerSchool multiplies historical grades from early marking periods by gpa_potentialcredit(), it's adding in 0's.
The Unwanted Effects:
(A) This year's marking periods that are already "historical" have weighted GPAs of 0.
(B) The cumulative weighted GPA does not include any of the current year's marking periods — so it doesn't update.
Things I tried that don't really work:
(1) We did set up a "Projected" GPA, but it includes the active marking period, which is misleading, especially at the beginning of the term.)
(2) Removing the weights — it gets the current year, but we want the weights since courses range from 2.5 to 100 credis.
My guess is that there is another way or a workaround. Hmm... Any advice?

Sounds like your courses do not have credit on them or grades were stored without Potential Credit. I would re-store grades properly.

Thank you, Jeff. I don't do that step, so it never occurred to me that this was an option that someone needed to actively set. I appreciate you pointing it out.
You said "I would re-store grades properly". Is that a complicated step? Or would the person who stores the (historical) grades likely know how to do that? (While we're at it, I would like them to include the Added Value — they missed that as well.)

Storing grades is a fairly simple process but there are a lot of options on that page and things do get missed/messed up. See the attached screenshots; It is possible someone accidentally stored grades with no credit or with 0% of credit. It happens.
When storing grades the Added Value will be stored on the grade automatically--it is pulled from the Course settings just like the credit value would be. I have attached a screenshot of that page as well.

Thank you — I did know about the Value Added setting, but the pictures with the potential credit highlighted are new to me, and I appreciate you showing that! They had forgotten to put Added Value into the Course Settings, and although we fixed that for the long-term, the first two marking period grades were stored without. Is it easy to re-store the first two marking periods, both to fix potential credit and to fix the Added Value? I thought it was a DDA thing, but that sounds like it could be harder...

You can click "Show All Terms" on the store grades page for previous terms, but the issue you may run into is enrollment--students that added or dropped classes in the past.
If it were me I would adjust the Added Value and Potential Credit on the previously stored grades via DDA.
