Recently PowerSchool sent out an automated message on behalf of our district for returning students to enroll. They used the term SNAPCODE incorrectly and it is confusing terminology. A snapcode is essentially a QR code made for accessing Snapchat and has nothing to do with Powerschool. This incorrect usage of terminology is confusing to our parents and guardians that are Snapchat users.
To make matters worse, Powerschool has continued to reuse this term on the website during returning student enrollment.
Has anyone else had this issue or noticed this error?
In PowerSchool, we use the term "Snapcodes" to refer to student-specific identifying codes that add an extra layer of security to the student’s information. Each Snapcode is 15 characters in length and if the returning form asks parents for a Snapcode, they will need to enter this Snapcode before having access to the form.
This term has been built into the Enrollment system and used by all the school districts using PowerSchool from the beginning.
