Translation Services

(First time poster/questioner...if this isn't the correct place for this question, please let me know.)

I am currently using Swift as our school's messaging system. To my knowledge it is the "Primary Language Code" field on the "Other Information page" that indicates to Swift that the message should be sent in a different language. The completion of this field with a 4-digit code also writes to the State Reporting Template (Pennsylvania) that the student should be coded and tracked as an EL student for state reporting and provides the appropriate language code for that report.

There are however some cases where I need to provide translation services because the parent requires documents sent home to be translated, but the student should NOT qualify as an EL students.

Is there a way to track these two data points separately?

1. Translation services needed in Spanish (4260)

2. Student EL and speaks spanish

Thank you

Hi @JClarke,

Thank you for reaching out for assistance in the Community!  I understand you are looking for a way to track the two data points separately.  I recommend reaching out to the Technical Contact within your district so they can assist you further with your request.  If they need additional assistance they can reach out to product support.  I hope this helps.

Have a great day!

Tracking translation services in Spanish can be accomplished by completing the "Primary Language Code" field on the "Other Information" page in Swift with the 4-digit code for Spanish (4260). When this field is completed, it will indicate to Swift that any messages sent through the system should be translated into Spanish. Additionally, this data point can be used to track which students require translation services and help ensure that those students receive the needed documents.
