Hi! @Nabolt01,
Report cards are unique to each district and the district sets up the information that is provided within the report card. If you’re asking for an example/template, we recommend connecting with the administrator within your school district to see how they have their report cards set up and ask for a template.
Thanks for the reply. I am working with a team of administrators for a Prek - 12 school and we are asking for samples of what other schools are doing. We have some of our own ideas but were interested in seeing how others were creating their report cards.
Hi! @Nabolt01,
I see other PowerSchool community members have not shared their ideas on how they are creating their report cards. While we love to see members share ideas in the forums, we recommend reaching out to the Designated Support Contact within the district who should be able to access PowerSource Exchange. Users from other districts have uploaded their own report cards and templates to download. Designated Support Contacts should be able to download one that fits your district best and modify those report cards.
Hi! I am working with an admin team in my schools to create a standards based report card. Were you successful in your creation? What steps did you take? How did you add the standards to the report card? Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!! ~Jamie
I am also inquiring about how to set this up. Thank you, Linda Easter
Hi,
We request other PowerSchool Community members share their experiences and solutions that worked for them in regards to the Standards-based reports so that it can be beneficial for other members of the Community.
We contracted with Bob Cornacchioli (DERO Technical Services) to help us set up our standards (elementary only; our 6-12 still use traditional grading). He then put us in touch with PSISJS to actually build the report card itself so that it can be accessed in both the admin portal and parent portal.
Since they provide it as a plugin, we've since modified the code to accommodate subsequent changes.
I've attached a screen shot of a portion of our third grade standards-based RC.
Could you direct me to the plug in you recommend for standards based report cards.
Hi Jerome.
Thanks for that screenshot of your SBC. How long did it take for PSISJS to create the report card? And, was the cost to implement this expensive? Also, with this you state the SBC is listed on the parent portal, how are they liking the transition?
Angela
Yes, I would like to know how to do the plug in too. Thanks in advance!
I would also like to see how other schools are designing standards based report templates that can easily be printed, exported, mail merged.
We worked with MBA and Power School to install Report Card Creator. https://mba-link.com/. This was HUGE! you can easily design new update report cards in Power School for standards based report cards. We are able to adjust the report card for different schools (ES/MS/HS) and for different semesters. I am really pleased with how this is going to revolutionize how we report to parents.
One click distribution of report cards to families,
Past report cards available to teachers, admin, and families.
Color and photos of teachers and students easy to add to template.
no limit to characters in teacher comments.
More ideas coming soon as we get trained and use this new feature.
ALSO a Covid tracer plug in for FREE!
What if a newbie admin wants a template to start with, knowing that it would still need to be customized for their own school?
Hi @eburton,
Thank you for reaching out to PowerSchool Community!
To assist you further, would you please provide more details such as what would be the fields you would like to see within your report?
I'd be happy to share my template with you but it would need a lot of massaging to work with your standards. I have a different one for each grade. I've attached our 5th grade report card - remove the .txt from the end of the file name before importing into PS.
For our SBG report card, I had teachers enter their standards into a spreadsheet the way they wanted them in PowerTeacher. Keep in mind: using lower level standards to determine grades for higher level standards only works for 2 levels. Sometimes the state standards go 3 or 4 levels down but those won't roll-up when calculating. I imported the standards then created object reports using standards objects.
Examples of our K-5 RCs are attached. We are also transitioning to SBG at middle school and I can upload examples of those if you're interested.
Hi Tina,
Thank you so much for sharing this. I would love to see the middle school versions if you don't mind. We're struggling with the upper grades. Thank you so much!

Middle School has been challenging. We started off using a 4pt. standards grade scale and no traditional grading. Teachers found that a 1 or a 2 didn't really light a fire under anyone like an F did. So we ended up with this hybrid model. Parents can also login to the public portal and see grades on all the lower-level standards that roll up into the ones on the report card.
Thank you so much, Tina! This is extremely helpful!

I am at a start-up school and we are doing SBG. All of our standards have been uploaded to PS, but now I need to create a template for the actual report card. Thank you for those of you that shared your templates, but my question now is how do we actually create the report card? I was told there is a selection of templates and we just choose one and ask a technician to upload it, but I cannot find the templates anywhere. I'm probably missing something so I would be very grateful for any help.
Thank you in advance,
Megan
