Standards Based Report Card

Can anyone share screenshots or a PDF version of standards based report cards for elementary, middle, and high school.

Hey Megan, since your standards aren't going to be the same as everyone else's, you're going to have to do some serious editing to make another template work for you.  Unless you have a template from a local user's group that has identical standards to the ones you uploaded, you'll need to edit the standards objects to use your identifiers at the very least.

If you have a template in the .pst format and have admin access to your PowerSchool installation, you can go to System>Reports and upload a report Template.  Then go to System Reports>Setup>Object Reports and edit it to suit your needs.

Hi! Was wondering how you managed a hybrid model. We are trying to get this set-up at my school right now. Did you just make every assignment out of 10 points so the score was aligned?

Our teachers create assignments and grade them traditionally as they always have BUT they also attach standards to them and can grade them on whatever standards grade scale we attach to the standards themselves.  When I create the report card, I used standards objects but also have a traditional grade at the top of the column.  They can grade assignments based on total points or percentage and the standards can be a 4 point scale or 10 or whatever we choose.  We changed the standards scale for academic grades halfway through the year to make from 4 to 10 because the teachers felt it would be easier for parents to understand but they don't have to be the same.  PowerSchool has designed their gradebook to allow both forms of grading to work together.  I've attached a sample of our hybrid report card.

Hi There,

Thank you for sharing your templates.  When your K-2 teachers complete their report cards do they keep grades all year in powerteacher that then calculate to create the report card, or do they input their grades directly into the report card?

Our teachers are required to keep a gradebook to justify standards grades but they are not required to use PowerTeacher Pro and link assignments to standards.  They do, however, enter their final standards grades into PowerTeacher at the end of each semester and we print the report cards from those entries.

That is very helpful, did you create your own template or use a third party to design it with a plug-in?

Yes we purchased a third party plug in.. MBA.  Now the Report Card creator allows us to drag and drop designs, include logos, add color bands, include teacher photos, student address if necessary.  Available to parents with one click.  no more downloading/printing PDFs!

Comes with a free COVID tracker plug in that is REALLY useful.

Hi! our school is trying to create a standards based report card. Who did you contact? And what was the cost? TIA!

We used a plug in by MBA.  This helped us redesign the report card with standards based information.  It was not completely simple but now our report cards are easier to distribute.

Thank you for you response!  Couple more questions...what is MBA? Where do find that?

Marcia Brenner makes plug ins that have helped us with report cards and covid.

Excellent!  Thanks! Are you aware of any other ways to create customized report cards with PS?  I believe MBA charges an annul fee.  Are there other options?

Hi!

We are looking to use MBA as well for our SBG report cards in PowerSchool. However, we are only implementing in Grades K-2. Our 3rd-8th grades will use the traditional gradebook setup. Is this something that MBA was able to accomodate? Thanks for any info you can pass along!

Spoiler
We created our own.

Nice Job! Do you have any resources that helped with creating your own.  We don't have the budget to do the plug in so I will probably have to create it myself and I have no clue where to begin..I am a quick learner though 🙂

You can buy object report editing software - but it's pricey.  We are not a rich district but I've been doing object reports for many years so I just knocked them out manually.  I'd be happy to zip up my templates and share but they would need a lot of editing to put your standards identifiers in and you'd need to adjust spacing depending on how much text there is.

Hi,

I am a newbie as well with object reports. Can you send me your templates as well? This will help give me some form of basis to learn and grow from. My email is: acampbell@shsd151.org

Thanks Much!

You have been giving amazing advice!  Could you please share your templates with me as well.  I have a coding background but this is beyond.  Thank you so much!
