Orange Triangles_Student Grade Scale

Curious as to why some of my students do NOT have orange Triangles (Student Grade Scales) while others do, they don't show up on the list.. then I have to physically add them in while others automatically appear.. Why are these students left off the original loading of students? If they do not have a orange Triangle, does it effect their overall GPA calculations?

Hi! @sryon,

If the students are just having the triangle it doesn't affect the GPA.  However, depending upon the grade scale chosen it can affect the GPA calculation.

For example, if a class normally gives 4 GPA points for an A, but a student was given a grade scale where an A is a 5, depending on how you pull the GPA, it would affect the GPA calculation.

So if they do NOT have a triangle, Do I need to set a grade scale to them so their GPA calculates correctly? Or can I leave it alone and it will Calculate correctly?

Like I said, our students are imported and only some have the Triangles automatically, while others do Not. So my question is, why would they not have a Triangle and who sets up the Triangle, is it something on the Tech end? If they don't have a triangle and I leave everything as is... does it effect the grades? we Just switched to Power Teacher Pro this year.. so there are several unknowns.. Hey @sryon

The triangle is just an indicator that implies that a Student Grade Scale has been assigned to them. For the other students who don't have the triangle, the student uses the Grade Scale assigned to the section (which is usually the same as the course).

There is an option for Student Grade Scales in Powerteacher Pro. If enabled by the district administrator, you can apply a grade scale to students that differ from the overall grade scale used for the class. When you assign a custom grade scale to a student, an orange triangle indicator appears next to the student's name on
the scoresheet and the score inspector displays a message indicating that the student has a custom grade scale assigned.

What do you mean "fix this?" Are you asking how to remove a Student Grade Scale? Are you a teacher or an Admin side user?

Hi AltheaR,

Elston explains what a Student Grade Scale is above. You can make Student Grade Scales available for teacher to use in Gradebook Preferences on the Admin side. They can then assign them to student in PT Pro. If you do not want teachers to have this option, do not select any Student Grade Scales to be available. You can also assign Student Grade Scales on the Admin side. I have attached screenshots for reference.
