Does anyone use the Health Information section of PowerSchools? What works well and what doesn't? We are about to transition to PowerSchools and I would like insight from current users. Thanks in advance for your help! Kristine McClary, RN (East Samford School, Nurse)
Solved! Go to Solution.
Our district uses the Health information/screens in PowerSchool. Overall, my nurses and health assistants feel it is easy to use and gives them the information needed. I have modified the screenings slightly to accomodate what we do verus what PowerSchool has set as default. The customization of those pages is not completely condusive, so that is a negative. Otherwise, everything else is great. In addtion, I have created some reports, using Enterprise reporting, which makes pulling health data quick for my health staff. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact me.
Have a great day!!

Hi Heather,
This is Kelley -- 3 wk old School Nurse reaching out!
I am pretty familiar with EHRs and database solutions like PS. We did get out a decent Medical Alert Report after a significant effort from my team.
I would like to pull Visit and Health Screen Reports.
Slim pickins for school nurse discussions. Is there another location on the portal for School Nurses? I'd like to exchange information about our Med alert process and see if there are opportunities that I am missing.
Kelley
If you are in district office, go to system reports on the left hand side then click on engine and it will give you a health office visit log you can use to see what you have for visits. This is my first time in PowerSchool Community. I am hoping to find out how to run more reports other than this. I would like to be able to break down my visits by time, total of each type of event (HA's, N/V/D, etc) and some other miscellaneous data.
Thank you for reaching out in the Community to connect with other PowerSchool SIS users!
We are working with the PowerSchool SIS team to review the type of reporting that is available for health information. We will update this thread with further information.
Thank you for your patience once we are able to gather more information!
Thank you for reaching out to the PowerSchool Community!
We apologize for the delay and truly appreciate your patience with us!
Health information such as the date, time, and duration of office visits is housed and can be exported using Data Export Manager. I have provided the steps below that should guide you through the process of generating the report in Data Export Manager.
System > Page and Data Management > Data Export Manager
and select,
Category: PowerSchool Data Sets
Export From: Student: Office Visits
You can use the filter option to sort by the VISIT DATE and see all the visits for a certain day. You can also include the fields of VISITTIMEIN and VISITTIMEOUT to see how long the visits lasted. You can also save the template for future requirements!
I hope this helps! Please reach out to us if you require further assistance!
I am school nurse but somehow I do not have access to health information section. Please help me provide IT with what clearance I need so I can add health alerts and chart
I had the secretary at school who sets all the permissions just add me for the health things. She actually just ended up giving me access to everything she has access to so it will be easier. We trust each other completely!
Hi, @nurse_colon,
@Jmartian is correct. You will have to reach out to your school district's Designated Support Contact or PowerSchool admin, they would have the access to grant permissions to view health records and create specific roles in the district.
When entering information on a student for the health visit does that visit stay with the student thru all years in the school district form school to school
I'm not sure. I would assume that as long as the student is in the same district then as long as you can already share information it would be there. If each school is set up independently then probably not. I am at a small K-8 school and we don't share any info with other school. When a person transfers to another school I print the records and give it to admin to send with everything else.
Hi, Kelley! School nurse new to PS. How were you able to pull a medical alert report?
Thank you!
Toni
HeHi @agagnon,
Thank you for posting your question in the Community.
The are several Health Report available in the system under Start Page > System Reports, that you might be interested in like Health Info Report, Health Concern Report, Health Report etc.
Additionally, you can export different Health related data using Data Export Manager under Start Page > System > Page & Data Management > Data Export Manager through PowerSchool Data Sets as a category.
Can you please elaborate more on what type of student health related data you are trying to pull from the system so that we can suggest a better option.
Note: If you do not have access to the options shared above then you might want to reach out to your school district's Designated Support Contact or PowerSchool admin as they would have the access to grant permissions to view health records.

I am not the school nurse, but she has asked me to ask about how she can possibly pull a report of students with specific allergies/health issues.
I feel certain there is a way to do that, I'm just not sure.
Thanks for any insight.
Hi @mmarino,
By default, the reports are disabled and do not appear on the System Reports page. To enable the reports, you can provide access to the appropriate security groups
using the System Report Security page.
Once your nurses have been given the access they can explore the several Health Report available in the system under Start Page > System Reports like Health Info Report, Health Concern Report, Health Report etc.

Hi Heather
Im in Mexico City and we are finishing our first year with powerschool SIS. We are especially interested in starting the health module. I have read articles and tried to configure some catalogs but I don't understand the process flow within powerschool. Could you help me by giving me a brief session or some material to help me resolve various health issues? I would greatly appreciate your help..

Hi @kelleyknowles. I came across this thread from last year and I am wondering if you might be able to help me. I am a district/ supervising nurse. My district has had the SIS health module since last summer but it was never set up. It's a long story but myself and an administrative assistant familiar with a different software system, have been trying to set it up. It would be hugely helpful to find out how other people have theirs set up. I feel like I need to confirm the way we have it set up is correct and will link the data to existing reports, or how to build new reports. Would you be willing to talk to us and possibly answer some questions? I should also mention that I requested training with PowerSchool and was told by my tech department that it won't happen, at least any time soon, because PowerSchool is swamped and can not do the training for a while. So... I am about to enter another school year with a system that is not functioning anywhere near what it was intended to do!
Thank you for reaching out @cknight. We have connected to your district's Customer Success Manager to work with you on any items that are needed to make sure you are setup successfully as well as review training options and scheduling. She should have reached out to you today.
