Deleting a course in SIS

I've created a course in the wrong school and wish to delete the course from the system and recreate it under the right school. How do I do that?

Welcome to PowerSchool Community! @ating

We do not recommend deleting courses because that could result in orphaned records being created and leading into system-wide errors.

Hi @ating

While there are ways to delete a course in PowerSchool SIS, we recommend working with your district's Designated Support Contact or PowerSchool System Administrator who can collaborate with PowerSchool SIS Support to ensure that student data is not affected during the process.

I understand not to just casually delete courses, but this one is a brand new course with no student data attached to it yet, so it is safe to delete it - hoping to make the correction before the new school year begins to avoid future problems

Hi! @ating,

If you want to delete the course in the Student Information System, we recommend reaching out to the Designated Support Contacts within the district who should be able to work with the PowerSchool support team and assist further.

Don't you wish you could just get an answer?  Obviously, if you've created a course at the district level, you probably are the or don't need a PS admin in your district.  I have the same question.  Don't they want us to come here for answers instead of bothering them on the phone?  Ah well.

We do not recommend deleting the course on PowerSchool SIS because that might result in the orphan data on PowerSchool SIS.  You should be able to make the course unavailable by removing its availability to any school for a selected year. This article should guide Admin through the process of editing the course availability.

Please note: If you are not a PowerSchool Technical Contact, we recommend all users work with their Technical Contacts before making any changes in PowerSchool SIS.

Please let us know if this helps.

It is not recommended to post access instructions for DDA in the public forums.  This is why all previous posts recommended having the technical contact work with PowerSchool support for instructions on how to do this.  Providing this information publicly has the potential to be very harmful to your data, especially if your security groups are not set properly.

My case in point, I can't even figure out how to delete the response.

Having a similar issue.  Made a new course for next year.  I wish to delete it and want to re-use the number (running low on numbers).  No one is enrolled or will ever be enrolled in this course.  Just need to delete so I can move on with my work.  Is there a simple answer or do I need to call PowerSchool and sit on hold all day?

I THINK this is how you do it.  I understand security concerns so I won't post how to get to DDE, and you should make absolutely sure there is nothing attached to the course, but once there....DDE>Courses>search for course number>select course>delete.
