I can not get into Cognos to run reports that I need. Please help!

A case is to be entered to get access to Cognos.  I recommend reaching out to a Designated Support Contact in the district who should be able to open a case on your behalf.  We'll get this forwarded to the Cognos group to provide access to Cognos.

If you specify the report's URL, complete with parameters, the report will run. Where it puts its output depends on its Cognos settings.

You can also have a look at the sdk part also..using sdk you can execute the reports using the script and you can save the report outputs locally or to any common share drive..

you will get the sample sdk codes to execute the reports from the ibm developer works website itself.




You can follow these steps to get your job done.




1. Open your report.


2. From the run menu, click Run Options to set any run options for your report. The following choices are the run options for your report: 


2.1 Format
2.2 Paper size
2.3 Paper Orientation
2.4 Data mode
2.5 Language
2.6 Rows per page
2.7 Prompt
2.8 Include accessibility features
2.9 Enable bi-directional support

3. Select the format that you want your report to be displayed in, and click Run.


If you still face the problem then I would recommend you follow this Salesforce Admin.


Hello, As per my experience, Cognos is IBM's business intelligence software used for reporting and analytics. you can follow these steps:


Troubleshooting Access:


  1. Check login credentials.
  2. Try a different browser.
  3. Ensure a stable network connection, possibly through a VPN.
  4. Verify user permissions.
  5. Check with IT for server issues.
  6. Clear browser cache and cookies.
  7. Ensure software is up-to-date.
