Release Notes: Permission Click Release 2023.08.01

In this release, we are excited to introduce a new feature that enables users to translate forms into 11 different languages for their convenience. This enhancement reintroduces the translation feature that was omitted in the last release due to security concerns related to the Google Translate API. Parents can now easily translate school forms into their preferred language by selecting it from the language selector dropdown. This makes it easier for schools to collect information and responses from parents.

Supported Languages: The release will support translation into the following languages:

  1. English
  2. Arabic
  3. Chinese
  4. French
  5. Korean
  6. Persian
  7. Portuguese
  8. Russian
  9. Spanish, Castilian
  10. Tagalog
  11. Vietnamese

Features:

  • Multilingual Form Support: Users will now be able to translate the forms using the language selector dropdown on the top right corner of the screen. Please refer to the image below for clarification.

  • Non-Translatable Elements: Based on the feedback received from School Districts, the translation does not apply for School Name, Permission Click logo and other branding logos due to privacy limitations.
  • Error Message Translation: For ease of parents, the error messages on the forms are also translated based on the selected language.

If the language is changed with the error message visible on screen, the message will be translated to the recent selection.

  • Navigation Translation: All the navigation elements and drop-down will also be translated to the selected language.

Limitation:

  • If Rich Text is being used in forms, then translation service would not be able to replicate the same formatting in the translated text. This is due to a longstanding limitation on the Google Translate API which doesn’t allow HTML tags to be transferred.
