As you and parents know, students struggle to ask for help through email. Prior to COVID-19, parents primarily emailed teachers when they felt their students needed additional help or support. But now, students need the skills to be able to reach out to their teachers with minimal input from their parents. Use this COVID-19 situation to help empower your students to reach out to you directly.
Review the template you want to use. Add your email address and any examples to the document, then share these email templates with parents and students either by attaching the template or copying it into an email. Then students can copy this text into a new email (elementary) or follow the recommendations (secondary), add the information, and then send it to you. This skill and these templates will prove valuable to empower students to ask for help in this new distance learning world.
