Teacher comment NOT visible to student

Dear All,

We use PS Learning within UC and one of our teachers left a comment to a student providing feedback in PS Learning (Also called Class Pages). We have looked with the student in UC Assignments, Class Pages student inbox, Progress -> Standards Progress which takes you to Parental Portal and still we could NOT found this comment.

Can you help us understand where does this great piece of learning evidence and feedback to guide instruction is?

A screenshot is below.

Thank you,

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

Hi @DSilva,

Thank you for reaching out for assistance through the Community!  The screenshot you provided the comment box is only viewable to the student through the Learning Gradebook.  In Unified Classroom students can not see the Learning Gradebook.  I recommend the teacher to write a message on the Assignment Details or enter the comment in the Scoresheet then the student should be able to see the comment.  I hope this information helps.  If you have additional questions let me know and I will be happy to help.

Have a great afternoon!

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

If a school has UC, then why not disable all options which the student can't see?  This is very frustrating for teachers who have taken the time to enter comments just to find out that they did it the wrong way.

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

Hi @RYANS28,

Thank you for posting in the Community!  Unfortunately, the comment box cannot be disabled.  I understand how this can be frustrating for teachers.  I can submit this to our Product Review Team as a feature request on your behalf.  I hope this helps.

Have a great day!

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

I am finding this almost one year later and I wonder if you were able to take this to your product review team to get it disabled. And it looks like you have not and they have not because I just spent hours putting feed back into student work as well.

this is completely unacceptable that this funtion is not disabled and nobody cares. I am spending hours trying ot support my students through distance learning and you sort of laugh off this major obstacle to communication like it is some kind of silly thing us teacher are doing in our spare time.

I don't know how you could go on leaving this function enabled. I know you might not think it is that big of a deal but I am giving extensive feedback on a research assignment to my 10th grade students and it is not accessible to them. And after you had request a year ago to fix this so as to not lull teachers into belief that a comment box is actually visible, you have done nothing.

This product is so very flawed and I have struggled the whole year to understand how you can ethically try to sell it to schools. Now when we need something that actually works, I find that you knew of the problem and proceeded to do absolutely nothing about it.

I am so completely discouraged by this. And by the way, thanks for so much less than absolutely nothing.

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

Hi @iserras

I understand the importance of the feature in your daily use of Unified Classroom, I have shared your concern with the Unified Classroom Product team and emphasized the existing feature request.

We recommend that teachers write a message on the Assignment Details or enter the comment in the Scoresheet so students can view the comment.

We encourage other Unified Classroom users to share their best practices with posting comments on student assessments. The PowerSchool Product team reviews each request that is shared to find opportunities to improve each product.

We thank you for sharing your feedback with PowerSchool!

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

May I ask what is "Learning Scoresheet"? I have been leaving comments for months and I found out that my students are unable to see them. If they cannot see them on their regular PS/Unified Classroom gradebooks, where is the place inside Class Pages where they can access those comments?
Apparently not on Activities/Assignment list and neither in the section that says Grades (where there is nothing).

Thank you very much in advance.

I really need a way to make all those hours of comments visible somehow, somewhere, to my students.

Thank you.

Re: Teacher comment NOT visible to student

Hi @iserras

Learning does not have a scoresheet. it is a gradebook and is only meant for syncing of grades.

There are some places within the Class Pages where the comments are inaccessible to students. I recommend placing all your comments within the scoresheet so that it is visible to students.
