I have created a discussion and the due date in PTP is the date it closes. Is there a way to allow a student to participate in a discussion late without having the date modified in the PTP grade book? If I reopen it it changes the due date in PTP which I do not want. This will be an issue.

Hello, @jhanlon-
Thank you for your post in our Community! It sounds like you would like to be able to have late submissions to discussions without having to change the due date. At this time, changing the due date is the only option for continuing to accept submissions. I understand that this is not the option you are looking for. Another idea is to create a separate discussion or assessment to receive the late submissions. We would be happy to take your feedback on this back to our team. Please feel free to provide additional details.
Kind regards,
Stacey
We have some large issues with the way learning syncs with the PTP gradebook in Unified Classroom. I would like to know if anybody else has come across these issues.
Assessments and Discussions- Once a date window is set, the closing date goes to the PTP gradebook. Once that date hits the assesment closes. If we have a kid that needs to take the exam or discussion in learning the teacher will need to reopen it. To do so they need to change the date in Learning/class pages. This then changes the due date of the exam or discussion in the PTP gradebook through the sync. This is an issue becasue now it comprimisies the due date the teacher intended for the students and parents.
Bottom line is that we need to let kids complete activities late past the deadline. It could be becasue of an IEP or just a courtasy to a special situation. As of now I am not finding a way to do that in Class Pages without changing the due date in PTP.
Hi @jhanlon
It looked like these two questions were aspects of the same issue, so we've merged them together to streamline the discussion. Please let us know if we've misunderstood this.

My recomendation would be to have the PTP gradebook override what it in class pages. We previously used another LMS and ran data syncs with 3rd part solutions and had more functionality then we currently do in UC.
Good afternoon @jhanlon!
Thank you for providing that feedback. I have gone ahead and submitted that specific recommendation as a feature request to our Product Team on your behalf. We appreciate your feedback to make Unified Classroom and even better solution for your district moving forward and encourage you to continue sharing your ideas in the Community!

Thank you this is very important to us. PTP is the main gradebook and we need to be able to control that the way we always have. If you craeate the assignment in Class Pages the PTP assignment is very limited. Students need to be able to hand in work late in class pages Especiallty those who need acomidations or we could face legal issues. Simply creating a new discussion or new test for those students is not a good workflow and creates a grade column for the whole class.
All that needs to happen is to create the ability to turn in late submissions. Blackboard has this option. For the Assignment Creation Details, there should just be a box to check to allow late submissions. I have been getting rid of the due date entirely after a quiz closes so students can make up quizzes whenever they can, but then the quiz disappears completely from my Unified Classroom Grade Book since there is no longer a due date. Again, please program the ability to accept late submissions for Assignments, Assessments, Discussions. Thank you!
Hi @mattpotthoff,
Unified Classroom offers the ability to Students to submit late assignments for Unified Classroom as well as Class Page assignments. Both Unified Classroom and Learning/Class Pages assignments will show a "late" work indicator to help the Teacher easily depict the late submission.
You can find more information about the late work submission feature in the links provided below.

This is not in regards to assignments. The assessments and discussions in Learning do not allow particpation past the due dates. @mattpotthoff With the addition of Schoology I doubt the development will go into Learning to make this happen.
