Hi all! I recently started using Unified Classroom for remote learning. The platform has been crashing daily so I'm migrating everything to a different platform. However, the assignments I had already created transferred to my PowerTeacherPro Gradebook and I cannot delete it (even though I deleted the assignment from Unified Classroom).
When I click on the assignment and try to go to the "delete" button, it has an O with a cross through it and won't allow it to be deleted.
Can anyone please help???
Was the assignment created in the Unified Classroom global creator or via Class Pages/PowerSchool Learning?
When an assignment is created in PowerSchool Learning it creates an instance of the Assignment on PowerTeacher Pro as well and a flag is set to indicate that the Assignment was created by PowerSchool Learning. This flag controls whether or not the PowerTeacher Pro instance can be deleted through PowerTeacher Pro, or it will be deleted when the linked PowerSchool Learning Assignment is deleted.
In very rare scenarios, the flag can remain active even after the PS Learning Assignment gets deleted, rendering the PowerTeacher Pro Assignment un-delete-able. To delete these Assignments, we will have to take a closer look at your district's set up to determine if that is the cause.
I recommend reaching out to your district's Designated Support Contact and requesting them to create a support case and the support team should be able to work with your district's Designated Support Contact to provide further options.
very rare scenarios? This happens a lot with us. I just had to deal with it this morning.
Also can't change an assignments name even though you changed it in lms, it doesn't update on the PT pro end and you can't change it on the pt pro end.
I'm sorry to hear that you are facing the issue where the assignments deleted from Unified Classroom Class Pages /PowerSchool Learning.
I recommend the following steps to make the unwanted Assignment in PowerTeacher Pro :
1. Set its publishing to Never in the Publish tab. -- This will hide it from Students.
2. Uncheck the box "Count in Final grade" in the first tab -- This will make sure that it does not mess up the Students' Grades.
If you have many of these Assignments that you can't delete, you might want to consider creating a Category, named "Deleted" or similar and assign these Assignments to this Category, to keep it better organized. Additionally, when a new term starts, filtering will remove these unwanted Assignments from the Teacher's view, unless he/she actively looks for them, which is good.
Please feel free to reach out to the community if you have further questions.
I have this same issue with my grade book. Your solution sounds like a lot of steps to take to take an "end route" around the problem. I'm sure it will work, but I wish the problem could be fixed by PowerSchool so that the steps you detailed would not have to be taken. Thanks for the help though!
I have had a similar problem in the past. When I was unable to delete an assignment from the grade book I had to go into the Assignment/Activity List under the grading link in the side bar, and delete the assignment in that list. I hope that helps!
