How will the migration to the hosted environment take place?
Once the migration is scheduled a TSG Systems Engineer will contact you to arrange remote access to your local environment. On the morning of the scheduled migration date, the Systems Engineer will connect to your server and stop PowerSchool and perform the export of your database as well as the other PowerSchool data not included in the database. This data will then be compressed and encrypted and uploaded to our PowerSchool Hosting team who will then begin the import and configuration of the hosted environment. You will be notified by TSG once the exports have been completed successfully and transferred to the Hosting team. Once the your hosted instance of PowerSchool is configured and available, you will be notified by the Hosting team that your hosted instance of PowerSchool is online and available.
Is it mandatory that I complete my scheduling process and/or perform the end of year process before the migration?
No, the migration to the hosted environment can occur at any time of the year.
Once I have purchased the PowerSchool Hosting Service, how long will it take before I am migrated?
Depending upon the availability of TSG resources, the migration process may require as little as a few days to complete, but typically benefits from a week or more of preparation.
How long does the migration take?
The duration of the migration to the hosted environment varies from customer to customer and cannot be predicted prior to its initiation. While the update can be completed in as little as a few hours, conditions and circumstances outside of TSG's control or influence may prolong the procedure. Factors influencing the duration of the update include the speed of the customer's network and the integrity of the data. Unless noted otherwise, all Self-Hosted to hosted environment migrations are scheduled for two-day deployment windows and customers should expect the completion of their server migration within this deployment window for all but the most extreme cases.
Can I use PowerSchool during the migration procedure?
No, once the migration has commenced on the first day of the deployment window, no users should log into PowerSchool much less modify the data that resides there; doing so would threaten the success of the procedure.

In order to meet the needs of our customers and allow them to minimize or eliminate the possibility of downtime, TSG offers the service twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. There will be an additional cost for overnight or weekend services. The standard two-day service windows are Monday-Tuesday and Wednesday - Thursday.
What is the new address of my Hosted environment?
When filling out the Self-Hosted to PowerSchool Hosted Request Form, you will be asked to select a new domain name for your hosted instance. Once the service is complete, you will be able to access PowerSchool via that domain name.
The syntax of the name you provide should be XXXXX.powerschool.com (where XXXXX is your school or district name). Please provide a 2nd choice in case your 1st choice is already in use by another customer.
