Error Message When Accessing SSO Registration

Purpose

 

Single Sign on (SSO) is a method of accessing your student's registration forms via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. On each student tab, you'll find a registration icon that will need to be clicked in order to access that student's form. This method of accessing registration is only enabled for schools that have opted to use the service. All other users will need to access registration forms via a separate area, which will be communicated by the school.

 

 

Audience

 

  • Your school/district uses PowerSchool
  • Your school/district has enabled registration through the Parent Portal
  • Your student is returning to the school/district OR if you have pre-registered your student for that school year.

 

Issue

 

My school uses SSO but I get one of the following error messages when I go to access the form:

  1. An unexpected error has occurred.
  2. There was a problem with the sign in process. Please contact your school or the InfoSnap Team for Assistance. Exception, Unable to lookup student xxxxx.
  3. The [Name of Form] requires a snapcode to continue. Please enter the snapcode below and click the *Continue* button.
  4. The OpenID Provider issued an assertion for an Identifier whose discovery information did not match.
  5. An error occurred while processing your request. PowerSchool has not been properly configured for the Single Sign On with the external system you are trying to access. Please contact your PowerSchool Administrator for assistance.

 

 

An unexpected error has occurred

 

Fix 1: Check your parent portal username and password for special characters (!@#$%^&*(). Special characters in either the username or password will prevent registration from working within the parent portal.

 

Fix 2: Please contact your student's school or school district.

Still Not Working

 

If you are still having trouble entering your snapcode, you can:

 

  • Try accessing the site in a different web browser (for example, if you are using Internet Explorer, try accessing the form in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox).
  • Clear your cache and cookies.
