Re: what is the roadmap for PSL now that powerschool is buying Schoology?

We had a couple teachers actually retire, older teachers, when we did the last switch between our self hosted moodle to Learning, I wonder what will happen this time. They just didn't want to learn a new system after finally getting a grasp of the old system.

So if I read the above post correctly, there will be free training? Not some posted videos, there will be someone our teachers can actually talk to and ask questions in real time?

The biggie is content migration, they've spent the last 3 years building their master classes in learning, the next is grade push of course, and easily syncing live rosters to their classes. If that's no big deal to do, I think we will be ok.

Hi @MDeFore

Thank you so much for the feedback. Yes, the no-cost training will include a live trainer and will be supplemented by online resources that allow your staff to learn at their own pace. We strongly encourage you to register for the December 16th webinar, at which time we will not only cover content migration, but also roster integration, grade pass-back, and deepening integration with PowerSchool SIS.

I hope this is helpful!

@jbidk Is this webinar is exclusively for current UC and PowerSchool Learning customers?

Thanks.

alright, so it wont be the end of the world if we don't move to schoology for the 21-22 school year? We are wanting to wait until things get somewhere back to normal. Teachers are comfortable right now with PS Learning and we really do not want to throw anything more on their plate with a big lms switchover during all of this blending and online learning.

I am assuming the same PS learning support will be provide, outside of upgrades that ps may no longer provide? PS will make sure PS Learning is up and operational? Seeing that prices are fixed for 3 years, I am assuming we have up to 3 years to move to schoology.

Re: what is the roadmap for PSL now that powerschool is buying Schoology?

This issue of when PSL is going to be withdrawn completely is an important one for us here at NSWLearning as we are based in the UK and our courses for 14-16 year old students span two years. Therefore, courses that commence in September 2021, will run until June 2023.

I have therefore seen seeking clarification on matter of when PSL will be withdrawn. I was told by email on the 20th January "Currently there is no plan on our roadmap to discontinue PowerSchool Learning."  When I pressed for clarification as to weather this meant that we could assume that we would have access to PSL for the 2022-23 academic year, I was initially met with silence before the matter was passed up the line to a more senior member of staff. who told me "All we know at this point is that we are committed to support PS Learning through the 2021-2022 school year.   No further decisions have been made beyond that."

Therefore, despite us being in the middle of a pandemic we don't have three years, or even two years, we actually have around 17 months. In the context of educational decision making, I means that we may already be into over-time.

Whilst I can understand the frustration for senior staff at PS who want to roll out their shine new LMS and put the 'mistake' of Haiku behind them, in the end we are real people with real teachers who are working under such enormous pressure at the moment.  Truth is, many of us are very happy with Haiku - it serves our purpose very well indeed.
