How to delete an assignment from both Learning and PowerTeacher Pro

I have a teacher who created a 'fake' assignment in PowerSchool Learning to test the features.  The assignment transferred over to PowerTeacher Pro.  He deleted the assignment in PowerSchool Learning.  It did not cascade the delete to PowerTeacher Pro.  That's okay in theory.  When he attempts to delete it from PowerTeacher Pro, the 'Delete' button is grayed out, and there is a flag saying "Some fields for this assignment can only be modified in PowerSchool Learning. Edit this assignment in Learning."

But it's been deleted from Learning.  So..... how do we delete this assignment?

Thank you for providing more information!

There are a few scenarios that will cause a duplicate assignment in PTP that is linked to a deleted Assignment in Learning. We are working on correcting the new scenarios that can cause these duplicates. in the meantime, Teachers can set them to not count in the final grade and be unpublished within PTP from the Edit Assignment screen.

Hi @mhaydenraley

Thank you for your post! This seems to be related to a known issue that has been shared with our team. I'm happy to share a workaround to help with what you are seeing. You can unpublish the assignment and you can remove the grades from that item in your gradebook so that they don't calculate into the overall class grade. If you still continue to have issues with this, it might be a good idea to use your help menu in Learning to submit a support request so our team can take a closer look.

Please let us know if we can continue to help!

Thank you - the assignment's already been deleted from Learning so I will submit a ticket.

Hope this gets fixed soon.

Has this issue been resolved. It was EASY in Powerschool. It is DIFFICULT in Unified Classroom.

As you can see below, there are two Specimen Paper 1 assignments and two Paper 2 Summative assignments. They, one of each, were deleted in the Learning area, but still show up in the assignments and grading areas. Screen Shot 2019-03-26 at 15.41.44.png

When I click on the assignment and try to go to the "delete" button, it has an O with a cross through it and won't allow it to be deleted. I understand you say the issue was taken care of, but not a written step-by-step process in how to do it. Can you guide me on how to do it?

For me, the issue was resolved when PowerSchool pushed an update to Learning.  We are using the standalone Learning product, so it sounds like there is another bug in UC that has yet to be addressed.  I would recommend submitting a ticket if you have not yet already done so.

I have had the same issue several times.  I have been told that they are working on it.  I am looking forward to a solution because otherwise the gradebook becomes cluttered with "deleted" assignments that are not included in the final grade.

Not really helpful. I don't understand why you can't delete it off of the gradebook. Nothing was entered. I could see jumping through hoops if you had grades entered just so you don't inadvertently delete an assignment, but this is ridiculous. Especially because it is so hard to change the date after you make the assignment, which is why I had multiple assignment entries. I know about the "not counting in final grade.", but that doesn't get rid of it.

I understand the frustration and apologize for the inconvenience this is causing! PowerSchool Developers are working to resolve the issue of deleting exams quickly.  While I understand workaround isn't the most convenient option, I recommend attempting to use the workaround while we correct the issue on our end.

Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue of deleting assignments between PowerSchool Learning and PowerTeacher Pro.

We ran into this a few times when we starting using Learning for the first time last Fall. The only fix at the time was to set the assignment to not publish in Gradebook since it couldn't be deleted.  So y'all (excuse me...I'm from Ga) are saying an update fixed this? I haven't heard from a teacher in awhile concerning this so maybe it has been resolved.

No, it was not resolved. I am in SC and I had the same problem this week. Any solutions?

Hi @gmarlowe,

If the Performance Matters is coded right, then deleting the duplicated item/task should be deleted in PowerTeacher Pro.  We recommend reaching out to the Designated Support Contact within your school district who should be able to connect you with the PowerSchool SIS Support team to get further assistance in removing the duplicated task.

Has this issue been solved yet? We still have the grayed out Delete button.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for reaching out in the Community to request an update!

We are continuing to work on resolving the issue of assignments not deleting in PowerTeacher Pro and PowerSchool Learning.  We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing while we work to fix the issue.

I recommend reaching out to PowerSchool Learning Support to create a case or request an update in an existing case.  This will allow PowerSchool to determine the users that are reporting the issue and follow up directly in the case as soon as the issue is resolved.

I did make a ticket and it was "resolved" by stating that you can just make a new assignment. So now there is a ton of extra assignments on my side. Which ones are the ones that are "counted", which ones are deleted. I'm not sure why this is such a hard thing to do? Just put it into the program. There are 10 teachers on my campus alone who can code it for you if needed. So simple to do, yet still after many years that it has not been rectified. I've looked at past blogs about this and yet nothing is completed. Only a very poor solution of "make a new assignment". AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Thanks @jamiem7 for your reply. I hope this issue can be solved soon, since this is our second semester using UC, and our teachers often add activities to teh Synced Gradebook by mistake, thus, a bunch of activities are shown in the Scoresheet.

I'll stay tuned, just in case a solution is given 🙂

No it has not, and their only solution is to delete from the one and then make a new assignment and then your assignments have so many assignments that can not be "hidden". It takes forever to figure out which one is included in the final grade and which one isn't. I just made a spreadsheet and use it instead. Parents get angry because they don't "know" what their child's grade is. We also have a difficult time "knowing". This has been going on for several years and 10 people from my faculty could easily code the software to make it function properly, but they can't get someone to do it there. Frustrating.
