In our school, teachers share a master course in Learning (with sections for each group of students). The sections are linked to the groups generated in Powerschool SIS.
Grades seem to sync fine (from learning) for those teachers who appear to be class owners, but not for those who are only listed as teachers.
Anyone has had a similar experience with the Grade Sync Logs?
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for reaching out through the Community for assistance! To confirm, are the teachers listed in SIS as a teacher or co-teacher?
They were listed as Lead teachers in the SIS.
We just changed them to Co-teachers, and included the coursw owner (in Learning) as a Lead teacher.
This solves the problem partially, I mean, the grades are syncing properly. But now, the teacher who is listed as Lead teacher has all the sections of teh course in his Power teacher.
It would be great if Learning courses could have more than one owner.
Each class should have one teacher listed in PowerSchool SIS and can have multiple co-teachers assigned. The teacher that is assigned to the course in PowerSchool SIS will be the Class Owner in PowerSchool Learning.
At this time, PowerSchool Learning can accept one owner for each class. The class owner and the co-teachers of each class should have the same control with the exception the owner can delete the Learning class or remove co-teachers from the roster.
I have submitted a feature request on your behalf to the PowerSchool Product team to accept multiple class owners in PowerSchool Learning. We thank you for your suggestions to improve PowerSchool Learning for teachers.
I think the issue isn't necessarily ownership, but rather Assignments and Grades don't sync to all rosters linked from PowerSchool SIS in a Learning Class. Regardless of who 'owns' the course, all PS rosters from any teacher in the course need to sync assignments and grades back to the PTP grade book.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
As you mentioned there are many reasons why a grade would not get sent to PTP. In order for PTP integration to work, the section owner must be the same as the master class owner. In Community, we have a great knowledge base article which will walk you through how does learning send grades to powerteacher.
When I was testing PS Learning in the 2018-2019 school year, grades from any teacher enrolled in the master class would sync to their sections with imported rosters from the SIS. This functionality was turned off at the start of the 2019-2020 school year (so all the teachers I had told it would work had an unpleasant experience when it didn't work). I understand that currently only the owner of a class can sync grades to their gradebook, but I would request that all sections, regardless if the teacher is the owner or just a coteacher, could have grades sync to their imported rosters. This used to work! Please bring it back. To me, it reduces the functionality of a master class if the grades can't sync to any roster imported from the SIS. A coteacher must decide if it is more worth it to them to copy the master class, but then maintain the class independently so their grades can sync, or continue as coteacher to have a true master class shared with other teachers, but not have their grades sync. Hopefully, this will be reinstated so all rosters will sync for all teachers enrolled in a master class.
Thank you for sharing your suggestion with us.
I have submitted a feature request on your behalf with the PowerSchool Learning product team to consider offering the option for teachers of a section to sync grades to their gradebook from the rosters, irrespective of their roles in the section.
We appreciate your drive to make PowerSchool Learning better for everyone!
