A: Your Analytics dashboard uses metrics (numbers) and attributes (things like names, IDs, and such) to generate reports.


Please note: This feature is only available to PowerSchool Learning School & District Edition domains.


Here is a list of the basic metrics used in your Analytics dashboards, along with a quick definition of each metric. The data included in these metrics depends on how activity statistics are tracked in PowerSchool Learning.


  • Visits: A count of sessions in PowerSchool Learning. For users with accounts, this is essentially the same as a login. A single user can have more than one visit in a particular date range.
  • Unique Logins: A count of all the different people who have logged in to PowerSchool Learning at least once during the selected date range. A single user can't have more than one unique login in a particular date range. In other words, this is the number of Unique Visitors to your domain.
  • Enabled Users: A count of all the people who could have logged in at least once during the selected date range. In other words, this is a count of all users, excluding Disabled or Deactivated users. At the domain level, all per user metrics are calculated using enabled users, not total users.
  • Hits: A count of user actions, such as visiting a new Page, clicking on an image, or opening a pop-up video window. A user can record multiple hits on the same resource by simply opening the resource again.
  • Seconds/Minutes/Hours: A sum of the length of all the relevant hits. This gives a rough sense of how long users are spending on resources, though the data can be inaccurate if users leave resources open for long periods of time without working on them.

For the most part, the attributes found on your Analytics dashboards are self-explanatory, but a few require some clarification.


  • Role: For domain-level reports, this refers to the Account Role. For class-level reports, including Domain Analytics > View by Class, this refers to the Roster Role. (This article has more information on the difference between Account Roles and Roster Roles.)
  • Organization: For Account Activity reports, the Organization given is the Organization for the Account. For Class Activity reports, the Organization given is the Organization for the Class.
  • Class Teacher: The Teacher listed for a given class in places like the Class Activity Summary will always be the Owner - that is, the teacher whose username appears in the class URL. It's not possible to summarize class activity by co-teacher, though co-teachers will appear in user activity reports for a particular class with the Roster Role of Teacher.
