side by side interaction types with Word Doc "help"

Can someone help me troubleshoot an issue I am having with this interaction?

I am creating a side by side with a Word document on the left side and the choice interaction on the right.  I thought I followed the proper steps to add a Word doc.  However, when I saved the item in the item bank, I received in red this message above the item:

SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.4: Attribute 'href' must appear on element 'a'.

What am I doing wrong?  And what does that message mean?

Please help!

Thank you! 🙂

Hi,

A common reason that would result in the SaxParse Exception while creating an item is when data is copy-pasted from other documents, sites, or any other place.

In order to copy and paste you will want to paste using the paste option with a "T" icon and a "W" icon, as shown in the screenshot below. The clipboard icon with a "T" is an option to paste as plain text and the clipboard icon with a "W" is the option to paste from Word icon in the text editor tool.

Here are the steps for best results and easy formatting when copy-pasting from a word document:

  • Make sure to remove any extra paragraph breaks from your Word document.
  • If your document contains images, save your Word document as HTML. This will create a folder on your computer containing separate image files for importing later.
  • To paste your copied content into a text field, click the Paste from Word icon in the text editor tool. The Paste from Word pop-up window will appear. Use the Ctrl/Cmd + V keys to paste the text. Then click OK. Your content will appear in the editing pane.
  • Instead of pasting images from the word document directly, use the image files created earlier when saving your Word document as an HTML file, use Add an image on the text editor menu to browse for
and select the desired image or Open the images folder, click on the desired image, and drag it to the associated blank box in the Performance Matters text editor pane.

Thank you so much!!! This was quite helpful.  I realized there was extra spacing when adding the word document to my items.  This morning I was able to successfully complete the test items and the test.

Again thank you for your help!
